About

Asta Hiroki is an nu jazz / electronica music producer and visual artist based in Paris, France.

Having honed his craft working as a composer & audio specialist in the world of contemporary dance and moving image installations, his works are typically nuanced, textural, and deep with an ethereal quality usually found in film soundtracks.

With early releases on Jalapeno Records he built his reputation off the back of well received collaborations with the likes of Suzi Analogue (Never Normal Records) and Kathrin deBoer (Belleruche, Max Cooper, Quantic) before unveiling his long-awaited debut album ‘Entropy’ in 2021.

This cohesive and highly conceptual record catapulted him to a new level of artistry and recognition in the public consciousness as he worked with: Lalin St Juste (The Seshen, Tru Thoughts), Muhsinah (Robert Glasper, Flying Lotus, Common) Dontmesswithjuan, and Tristan de Liège (Future Archive, Audio Network).

The album was a critical success, winning ‘FIP Selection’ award in France (racking up hundreds of spins in the process), ‘album of the week’ on BBC 6Music, global radio support across Radio Eins, KCRW, Couleur 3, France Inter, and seeing him invited to provide a guest mix for Huey Morgan, all while gaining support of key press tastemakers including XLR8R, Bandcamp, Everything Is Noise and more.

Shortly thereafter he founded a record label and music publisher – Folded Music in late 2021 and the subsequent jazz and composition project focused imprint – Most Least with the aim of releasing his own material as well as championing and supporting new and interesting artists operating in a range of electronic, downtempo and jazz styles.

His music has gone from strength to strength, becoming a staple of tastemaker radio stations, especially on BBC6Music where he’s seen support from Tom Ravenscroft, Cerys Matthews, Don Letts, Iggy Pop, Deb Grant, and Huey Morgan, alongside airplay on BBC Radio 1 (DJ Jaguar), BBC3, KCRW, and KEXP. The music press has likewise taken note, with praise from further outlets such as Dummy, CLASH, and his songs have achieved significant streaming success, including placements on coveted Spotify editorial playlists like Fresh Finds, Jazztronica, Butter, and Lofi Beats to name a few.

Beyond his label releases, Asta Hiroki continues to build his presence in the live music scene, recently performing alongside legendary producer Blockhead at London’s iconic Jazz Café and composing scores for contemporary dancers Ceyda Tanc Dance (for which he was positively reviewed in The Guardian).

In 2025 he has released a full-length collaboration album ‘Anamnesis’ with Tristan de Liège via Folded Music and his second solo album ‘Continuation’ was released winning Album of the Month on WorldwideFM and FIP Selection again in France. A bestseller in Bandcamp electronica and supported by: Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Jordan Rakei, Tina Edwards, Soweto Kinch, BBC3, BBC6Music, France Inter, KEXP, Bandcamp Radio, JazzFM and more.
